PARDON MY ENGLISH (1933)

A glorious 1930s screwball comedy that was revived to acclaim by New York’s Encores! series in 2004. A young British gentleman who suffers from amnesia is unaware that he has been leading a double life as a Dresden cabaret owner.

The dazzling Gershwin score includes song hits like The Lorelei, Isn’t It a Pity?, My Cousin in Milwaukee, and I’ve Got To Be There.

- The Red Menace (1965)

The very first Broadway musical from Kander & Ebb, the team that would later write Cabaret and Chicago! Flora Mezsaros, a young woman in 1930s New York, finds her romantic daydreams complicated when her boyfriend is torn between her and a zealous Communist Party leader.

The charming and amusing score includes A Quiet Thing and Sing Happy.

PLAIN AND FANCY (1955)

A musical in the Rodgers and Hammerstein tradition, Plain and Fancy revolves around the cultural collision that occurs when two New York sophisticates find themselves lost in the Pennsylvania Amish country. Joseph Stein (Fiddler on the Roof) and Will Glickman’s book features songs by Albert Hague (Redhead) and Arnold Horwitt.

The vividly atmospheric score includes the hit Young and Foolish, as well as This is All Very New to Me, It’s a Helluva Way to Run a Love Affair, and It Wonders Me.

GAY DIVORCE (1932)

Brimming with sophisticated humor and stylish songs and dances, this Fred Astaire classic (later filmed as The Gay Divorcée) is a devilishly amusing farce of mistaken identities set in Brighton, England in 1932.

The dazzling Porter songs include his early standard Night and Day, as well as You’re in Love, After You Who?, I’ve Got You On My Mind, and Mr. and Mrs. Fitch.
