Dear Patrons and Friends of 42nd Street Moon,

We hope you watched the entertaining Tony Awards show Sunday evening and were reminded of how important musical theatre is in your lives.

It’s been a very hectic but productive two weeks since we alerted you to some operational and financial challenges at 42nd Street Moon and reached out for your support. While we still have some remedial work to do and funds to raise, we are grateful and pleased to update you on the encouraging progress we’ve made to date with our campaign to raise $300,000.

Led by a leadership pledge of $75,000 from Moon’s Board of Directors and a generous infusion of contributions from early givers big and small, we have raised over $150,000 already and are optimistic that we can reach our goal with continued support from patrons and friends like you.

We also want to remind you that this fundraising campaign is not only to enable Moon to redress its near-term financial and operating issues, but to also help provide the company sufficient working capital and operating visibility to announce an exciting new season of musical theatre programming for 2024/2025. The Board of Directors is fully committed to doing whatever is needed to set 42nd Street Moon up for success and be shining high and brightly again soon for current and future generations of Bay Area audiences, patrons, performing artists and aspiring musical theatre students.

To those who’ve already donated to this fundraiser, all of us at 42nd Street Moon – our board, staff and an ensemble village of stellar artists and dedicated theater folks THANK YOU from the collective bottom of our hearts.

To those of you who haven’t donated yet, please consider supporting one of only a handful of theatre companies in the country solely dedicated for 31 years to a beloved and iconic art form – the musical. Help us get back on stage to entertain you, friends and family with classic, contemporary and new works with our extended family of Moon artists at the Gateway Theatre.

A couple of appeals to two special groups of Moon supporters – annual givers and small donors…

ANNUAL GIVING DONORS

To our hundreds of longtime and loyal annual giving donors, we’re forever grateful for your financial support over many years and hope all of you will be part of this campaign at a time when Moon has never needed your donation more. To ensure the success of this unprecedented and time-sensitive fundraise campaign, we respectfully and hopefully ask you all to consider accelerating and increasing your annual calendar year-end gift before our fiscal year-end June 30th. Moon’s invaluable support group of annual givers has historically contributed $75K-$125K which would be a huge additional boost toward our goal.

(P.S. If your company has a corporate matching policy, please ask it to match any gift you make.)

MOON’S $25 FOR ’25 CHALLENGE

Large numbers of small donors can have a huge impact on a special fundraise like this. No amount is too small to make a difference. If everyone receiving this e-blast gives $25, that unanimous collective grass roots effort would generate $200K! Please consider being part of a legion of $25 for ’25 donors who will be personally acknowledged, thanked and celebrated at the Gateway upon completion of this campaign.

(As an added incentive, an anonymous friend of Moon has offered to match the total of these $25 donations up to $25K!)

Please help us keep the momentum we’ve experienced so far with this fundraise campaign going on to the finish line by giving now and tell your friends about it.

If you would prefer to donate via check, you can address your envelope to: 42nd Street Moon, PO Box 426470, SF 94142.

Thank you for your consideration and in advance for any donation you decide to make. We hope to see you soon at the Gateway.
