42nd Street Moon

In the first half of the 20th century, American musical theatre gave us the likes of Porter, Gershwin, Rodgers, Hammerstein, Hart and many others who remain titans, icons, legends.

In the second half of the 20th century, no single composer or lyricist did as much to shape, to influence, and to champion the art form as Stephen Sondheim. His place among the aforementioned creators was assured decades ago, and few who have come before or since sustained his level of brilliance, wit, and innovation for so many years.

Fresh from our closing of A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC, we here at Moon join the theatre world's collective mourning at the passing of Mr. Sondheim. Rest well, sir, with the knowledge that your name, your art, and your legacy will continue for many generations to come.
