ANTRHOPOCENE – A New Musical About Young People and the Climate Crisis
Young, aspiring artists will have the opportunity to sign up for a new musical developmental workshop for the world-premiere of Anthropocene, a production about young people and the climate crisis. This 3-week workshop will focus on auditioning, acting, singing, blocking, and bringing a new theatrical work into the world.
Anthropocene is about hope in the face of the climate crisis. A coming-of-age musical about Cora Mariposa, a teenage girl navigating complex social dynamics, a love of science, the world of social media, real and fake friendships, and her surprising role as an unwitting climate activist who leads in the face of fossil-fueled power. A science-lover’s musical, it takes complex topics like astrophysics, the greenhouse effect, ecology, and political greenwashing, and makes them both accessible and memorable. A surprise ending will leave the audience inspired. Book, music, and lyrics by Marisa Mitchell.
CAMP DATES*: August 1 – August 19
*Note: the workshop will be designed to accommodate SFUSD schedules
DAY/TIME: Monday – Friday 9am-4pm
AGES: 13-17
TUITION: $349
INSTRUCTOR: Marisa Mitchell
