MoonSchool at 42nd Street Moon offers year-round technique classes for adults. Refresh your skills, learn to quickly pick up choreo, or try something new! 

To request financial assistance, please complete this financial aid form.  We are able to offer a limited number of full or partial scholarships, as well as payment plans, each session thanks to our generous donors and board of directors.

WAYS TO REGISTER FOR YOUR CLASS

1. Full Series – Make the most of your class by signing up for the full series! Every week brings something new and exciting for every class. Register for a full series so you don’t miss a single note! Note: All Musical Theatre 360 Classes are offered in person only. 

2. Drop In – Try something new! We know you’ve been thinking about trying that one class. Choose the date you are available and drop in for a session! 

 

IMPORTANT COVID-19 INFORMATION

  • Full Series packages AND Drop Ins are available to be taken either in person OR via Zoom. (Exceptions listed below with classes)
  • All students age 12+ are required to show proof of full vaccination in order to join classes in person. Proof of vaccination must be brought to first day of class or day of drop-in class (physical vaccination card, digital record, or photo). 
  • All MoonSchool instructors and staff are required to be fully vaccinated before beginning instruction. 
  • Students who attend class in person will be required to wear a mask at all times. 
  • All students under the age of 12 who are still unable to be vaccinated will be required to wear masks at all times. Weekly tests are recommended for in-class participation for students under the age of 12 this Fall. 
  • We ask that you do not attend class in person if you are feeling ill. If you or someone in your household receives a positive COVID test following your attendance in class, please notify us as soon as possible so that we can alert those who may have been exposed.

DANCE CLASSES

MUSICAL THEATRE JAZZ TECHNIQUE AND CHOREO FOR PROFESSIONALS

Instructor: Meredith Fox

Join Meredith Fox for this jazz technique and choreography class for adults! Learn and perfect jazz routines from your favorite Broadway shows while focusing on honing foundational jazz skills. 

HIP HOP

Mon. 5:30 – 6:30 PM
Starts September 20

Expect funky, fun urban beats from around the world with easy-to-follow choreo! Students will learn whacking, voguing, house, krump, and many more styles to some sick beats!

INTRO TO TAP

  • Tues. 12:00 – 1:00 PM
  • Tues. 7:00 – 8:00  PM

Starts September 21

Instructor: Meredith Fox

No previous tap experience required – Great for those who are new to tap or returning after a long hiatus! You’re welcome to wear tap shoes if you have a good place to scuff; socks or sneakers are great, too! 

INTERMEDIATE TAP

  • Tues. 1:00 – 2:00 PM
  • Tues. 8:00 – 9:00 PM

Starts September 21

Instructor: Meredith Fox

Warm-ups and combos will incorporate intermediate tap vocabulary (i.e. time steps, pullbacks, etc.) and move at a moderate pace. Previous tap experience required. You’re welcome to wear tap shoes if you have a good place to scuff; socks or sneakers are great, too!

JAZZ DANCE

  • Wed. 6:00 – 7:00 PM
  • Sat. 10:00 – 11:15 AM

Inspired by classical ballet and modern dance, jazz blends these well known dance forms into one of musical theatre favorite dance styles. This jazz dance class focuses solely on jazz technique such as turns, leaps, piques, pirouettes, and much more!

MUSICAL THEATRE

CRAFTING A CABARET

Starts September 21

Have you ever watched a Cabaret performance and thought, “I wanna do that!”? This is the class for you. Working with 42nd Street Moon’s Producing Artistic Director, Daren A.C. Carollo and Cabaret Coordinator, JoAna Gray, you will learn how to create your own cabaret show – including how to choose songs, create arrangements, develop a show script (and get feedback) and market/produce your show. Attendance each week is mandatory. No drop-ins available.

Note: This class is available in person OR via Zoom. Register for the full series today and have your pick at how you would like to safely attend this class!

PLAYWRITING

Wed. 5:30 – 6:30 PM
Starts September 22

Students use creative writing exercises to develop interesting characters and meaningful stories. Using metaphorical characters, young writers will expand their Theatre IQ by doing deep dives into objectives, obstacles, and tactics. Each writer will then develop their ideas into their own two-character, 10-minute play. The class will culminate in a reading of all the plays by adult actors! 

This class will be offered via Zoom only.

Vinyasa flow class builds heat and relaxes the body and mind. Improve endurance and flexibility, while strengthening and enhancing mind-body connection

REGISTRATION POLICIES
Registrations are processed in the order received. Registrations are accepted until class is full or until the class begins. Closer to the start date of the class, we will email further details confirming dates, times, and other information.

CANCELLATION
If you cancel registration two weeks or more prior to the first day of class, you will be issued a full refund minus a $25 administrative fee. If you cancel your registration within two weeks of the first day, there will be no refunds unless your spot can be filled by a student on the waiting list. In the event that we are able to fill your spot, you will receive a full refund minus a $25 administrative fee.
