MoonSchool at 42nd Street Moon offers year-round technique classes for adults. Refresh your skills, learn to quickly pick up choreo, or try something new! All classes are virtual until further notice. 

To request financial assistance, please complete this financial aid request form.   We are able to offer a limited number of full or partial scholarships, as well as payment plans, each session thanks to our generous donors and board of directors.

Summer classes begin June 8 and end August 10. 

WAYS TO REGISTER FOR YOUR CLASS

1. Full Series – Make the most of your class by signing up for the full 14 or 15 week series! Every week brings something new and exciting for every class. Register for a full series so you don’t miss a single note!

2. Drop In – Try something new! We know you’ve been thinking about trying that one class. Choose the date you are available and drop in for a session!

SUMMER CLASSES

DANCE

BEGINNER TAP
Tues. 12:00 pm

This drop-in friendly class will start with a warm-up before moving into a brand new combination each week. The warm-ups and combos will incorporate foundational tap vocabulary (i.e. taps, flaps, etc.) and move at an easy pace. No previous tap experience required – Great for those who are new to tap or returning after a long hiatus! You’re welcome to wear tap shoes if you have a good place to scuff; socks or sneakers are great, too! Sign up for the whole series and save 15%!

INTERMEDIATE TAP
Tues. 1:00 pm

Warm-ups and combos will incorporate intermediate tap vocabulary (i.e. time steps, pullbacks, etc.) and move at a moderate pace. Previous tap experience required. You’re welcome to wear tap shoes if you have a good place to scuff; socks or sneakers are great, too! Sign up for the whole series and save 15%!

INTRO TO TAP

Students new to tap, or just returning, will develop a rhythmic ear through introductory technique and learn how to combine basic steps with style and ease. PAST CLASSES

CABARET PERFORMANCE

We will take you from considering to direct a piece to closing night during this 14 week class.  Teacher and 42nd Street Moon Co-Executive Daren A.C. Carollo will dive into script analysis, creating the sensory world of the piece, staging, collaboration, design, meeting roles/responsibilities, setting everyone up for success, and working with artists.

DANCE CALL

A new theme and new professional choreographer every week! Learn a new combo and receive feedback from the best theatre professionals in the Bay Area every class. Keep your skills fresh for your next audition with this dance skills based class.

ADVANCED TAP

Stay sharp and make sure you are ready for your next audition with this advanced tap class!

HIP-HOP

70’s Funk Styles including Poppin’, Waving and Gliding as well as Party Dance moves from the 80’s and 90’s. Sound Old School? Well these techniques are the foundation of contemporary Hip Hop choreo style. Join Bay Area star choreographer, performer, instructor Keith Pinto in getting down and funky.

AUDITIONING

Have you ever watched a Cabaret performance and thought, “I wanna do that!”? This is the class for you. Working with 42nd Street Moon’s Co-Executive Director Daren A.C. Carollo and Cabaret Coordinator JoAna Gray, you will learn how to create your own cabaret show – including how to choose songs, create arrangements, develop a show script (and get feedback) and market/produce your show. Attendance each week is mandatory. No drop-ins available.

REGISTRATION POLICIES
Registrations are processed in the order received. Registrations are accepted until class is full or until the class begins. Closer to the start date of the class, we will email further details confirming dates, times, and other information.

CANCELLATION
If you cancel registration two weeks or more prior to the first day of class, you will be issued a full refund minus a $25 administrative fee. If you cancel your registration within two weeks of the first day, there will be no refunds unless your spot can be filled by a student on the waiting list. In the event that we are able to fill your spot, you will receive a full refund minus a $25 administrative fee.

REFUNDS
There are absolutely no refunds after the first day of class. If MoonSchool must cancel class due to low enrollment, you will receive a full refund less a $25 administrative fee. No refunds will be granted for circumstances beyond MoonSchool’s control i.e. natural disasters or worldwide pandemics.

Due to the nature of the classes, attendance is recommended each week.
